What We Do
Birth Time Correction in astrology discovers, corrects or refines the time of birth to increase the accuracy of astrological predictions. While the birth time on a birth certificate is usually sufficient, inaccuracies can arise from daylight savings changes, time zone shifts, incorrect clocks or imprecise recording of the time of birth. The time of birth may also be inaccurate if the time is not from a verified record but from memory. Astrology offers a method to correct this using principles based on planetary positions at the time of the correction and correlating this with significant life events. This process involves submitting personal details, significant life events, and photographs. All of this is evaluated in confidence. The corrected birth time is determined through a thorough analysis, sometimes taking days or weeks. The resulting corrected time provides a more precise astrological profile.
Why is Birth Time Correction Required?
Accurate birth time is crucial for precise astrological predictions, but recorded times may often be inaccurate. Errors can arise due to transitions between Daylight Saving Time and Standard Time, faulty clocks at birth, or estimated entries in records. Historical factors, such as time zone changes or temporary wartime modifications, further complicate accuracy. Additionally, when the Ascendant/Lagna or Moon is at the cusp of a zodiac sign, even slight errors in recorded time can lead to significant astrological inaccuracies.
Definitions of “birth” vary across cultures and astrology schools. In the United States, birth is defined as the complete expulsion of the baby from the mother. Astrologically, however, definitions differ. According to Nicholas deVore, birth is marked by the first breath after cutting the umbilical cord. The ancient Indian treatise Satya Jatakam defines birth as the moment the head becomes visible (Shiro Darshana) or when the body touches the ground (Bhu Patna), a practical measure in traditional squatting deliveries.
Vedic Astrology can correct birth times to within approximately one minute or less of the actual time by using planetary transits at the astrologer’s location. This process aligns the individual’s chart with significant life events and modifies key chart elements (like the Ascendant or Moon sign) based on transits.
The process begins with the client providing essential information: birth date, place, approximate time, details of significant life events, and a recent full-length photo. Thumb impressions may also assist in refining the time. The astrologer evaluates these details, cross-checks events derived from the corrected chart, and iteratively refines the timing. This process ensures the final time of birth is precise and verified.
Depending on the complexity, the entire process typically takes 2–8 weeks, with periodic updates shared with the client. In rare cases, it may extend beyond eight weeks to ensure the highest accuracy.

Other reasons why the recorded birth time may be inaccurate.
In hospital births, the physician is responsible for certifying the date, time, and place of birth for the U.S. Standard Certificate of Live Birth. If no physician is present, the mother, father, or another adult provides the required information. Errors are more common in births outside of hospitals.
The recorded birth time is often assumed to be precise, yet from an esoteric perspective, birth is not a single moment but a transition between realms. While medical records capture the physical emergence, the true astrological birth moment may differ, influenced by subtle energetic shifts that evade standard measurement.
Some mystical traditions suggest that the soul fully incarnates not at physical expulsion but at the first breath, when prana—the vital life force—enters the body. Others believe that planetary imprints solidify at key thresholds, such as cutting the umbilical cord or the first cry. In ancient wisdom, birth is seen as a passage from the unmanifest into the celestial design of karma and destiny—one that may not always align with recorded time.

This correction is based on the following principles:
- At the time and place where the astrologer corrects the birth time, specific transiting planets will exactly match some planetary positions in the individual’s birth chart, effectively “rebirthing” the time of birth.
- The Ascendant/Lagna or, in extreme cases, the Moon Sign, if the date of birth is incorrect or the Sun Sign, if the month of birth is inaccurate, or the sign of Jupiter’s placement if the year of birth is erroneous, is modified based on transiting planets.
The Process of Correcting The Time of Birth
Upon purchase, the client must complete a form to share essential information like the date of birth, place of birth, available time of birth, or the estimated time of birth. Also, three important life events, including the dates of their happening and other essential information, must be shared via this form.
A full or ¾ length photo of the client is also mandatory. While not essential, photos of the right and left thumbs are useful, as per the sample shown. The whorls of the thumb also help to correct the time of birth.
Upon the receipt of the completed form, the given birth details will be examined. This initial examination itself could take up to a week. After the initial assessment, the birth time will be corrected if necessary. The revised birth time will be cross-checked for accuracy against significant events in the client’s life based on the data provided. Some past events not shared by the client will also be derived from the revised birth chart and shared with the client to verify the accuracy of the corrected time of birth. This could take several iterations before the exact time of birth can be certified. The client must be able to answer emails with questions about their life events.
Once the correct time of birth is identified, the report, with the accurate time, is emailed to the client.
Lead Time
The lead time to conclude the order varies from two to eight weeks, depending on the complexities involved in the order. In some cases, this can even extend beyond eight weeks. The client will be periodically informed about the progress made.
