  1. Madonna

By chrisweger – Madonna – The Celebration tour live – London 15/10/2023, CC BY-SA 2.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=139252017

Background:

Madonna’s Bharani in the 9th house. The lord of the constellation is Yama (Dharmaraja) and the 9th house is the house of Dharma. The 9th house is also receiving the aspect of Jupiter, the planet of Dharma, from the 3rd house of written communication, which is owned by Venus, which is also the ruler of Bharani. So, Dharma, the Bharani traits of Dharma are very strong in this chart. Mars (which is in Bharani) represents opposition, anger, controversy; abuse, strong towards the end of the night, firearms among others.

Interpretation:

  • Incestuous: Madonna’s brother, Christopher Ciccone, hints of an incestuous relationship with his sister in this book, “Life with my Sister Madonna” – a trait of Bharani where Mars is also placed in Bharani. Moreover, the 3rd house of siblings has a Jupiter in rapt conjunction (3 degrees) with Rahu forming a Guru Chandala Yoga giving a difficult relationship with her brother. This is/was further compounded by the qualities of Yama/Yami via the aspect of Mars from Bharani.  Jupiter is overpowered by Rahu in the sign of Venus (Tula) which is the 3rd house of written communication. This is further influenced by Mars from Bharani giving the lyrics she wrote strong sexual overtones
  • Sexuality: The Nakshatra of Bharani representing sexuality in the 9th house of Dharma/prayer/religion. Madonna is well known for mixing religion with sexuality in her lyrics (3rd house influence via Jupiter and Rahu). Her song ‘Like a Prayer’ led the Vatican to condemn the video for these reasons. Bharani’s Sexual energy pervaded in all her songs, performances and tours like the ‘Blond Ambition World Tour’ which at times could not even be carried on American Television networks due to its sexually explicit nature
  • Pioneering: Bharani natives are known to take the path less travelled and be a pioneer. Madonna was a pioneer (like Yama) in the world of music where she introduced explicit sexuality (Bharani) like it had never been done before
  • Provoking: The book Madonna wrote was titled Sex – the influence of Mars in Bharani on the 3rd house of writing which is also owned by the lord of Bharani – Venus.
  • Placenta: Madonna had a complication in the birth of her second child. This complication is called   Placenta Praevia ( placenta = Bharani) and is connected with the Vulva (Bharani)
  • Social Rights: Fighting for social rights is also a theme of Bharani. Madonna, courtesy of the sexuality of Bharani, strongly campaigned for the rights of LGBT – particularly in Russia
  • Step Motherly Treatment: Bharani represents Step-motherly treatment. Madonna had a stepmother who she resented deeply

Madonna’s Bharani owned by Venus (also 3rd and 10th Lord) in her 9th house of fortune aspected by the 5th Lord of Entertainment posited in the 3rd house of Lyrics conjoined with unconventional Rahu gave Madonna her fortune based on lyrics on themes of sexuality. The impact of Bharani is visible clearly in Madonna’s life.

  1. Karl Marx

By John Jabez Edwin Mayall – International Institute of Social History, Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=106191124

Background:

Karl Marx’s Bharani is in the 3rd house of writing, siblings, short travels, courage, and mental instability among others. It contains the Moon (Mind/Mother), Rahu (unconventionality) and Sun (Government/Soul).  In addition, Bhrigu Bindu is also in Bharani. Retrograde Jupiter (lord of Dharma) is aspecting Bharani/3rd house from Sagittarius (sign of Dharma) and from the 11th house of gains. His life’s purpose is to write (3rd house) in an unconventional manner (Rahu) and in connection with the government (Sun) with the power of Bharani (giving the downtrodden their rights).

Interpretation:

  • Fighting for the cause of the weak: Via his writings on Economics/Sociology and through seminal works like Das Kapital, he said that capitalism makes profits by exploiting labour and that the government (Sun in Bharani and the 3rd house) helps capitalists with this.  His views were revolutionary and path breaking (like Yama’s) which led to several uprisings of the working class against the ruling class (Sun/Government) and helped workers get their dues
  • Bringing a task to its logical closure: Several of Karl Marx’s writings could not be published while he was alive, as was published after his death
  • Carnal due to the association with Yoni: Karl Marx fathered a child through his housekeeper other than his seven children
  • Industrious Buffalo:  The first volume of Das Kapital was published in 1867. He industriously plodded on volumes II and III till his death in 1883. These were published only 10 years later in 1893.
  • Step-motherly treatment:  While it is not known if he had a difficult relationship with his mother, what is known is that in later years (when Karl Marx’s writings were stirring up the proletariats/industrial workers everywhere) the results of his writings “destroyed his mother’s hope and happiness in her son”.
  • The power to take away or cleanse:  May Day (1st May – Sun in Bharani) struggles began on the strength of the writings of Karl Marx, which wanted workers to be treated better. The writings of Karl Marx prodded unions to protest (especially in the USA) to ask for shorter working hours (from 12-16 to 8 hours/day). Thus, the writing of Marx took away the difficult working conditions from the life of workers.
  1. Edgar Cayce

By New York Times October 1910 – https://ckc4me.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/ny-times-article-on-cayce.gif, Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=153171277

Background:

Edgar Cayce (the Sleeping Prophet) had his Moon in Bharani in the 10th house of Karma. The Moon is the Lagna lord. The Lagna has Gulika posited in it which makes a person spiritual.  Further Moon is in the 3rd pada of Bharani ruled by Venus. This makes his Moon, Venus dominated. Venus, the lord of 4 & 11 is in the 8th house of occult conjoined with Saturn the lord of the 8th, Mercury the lord of the 12th (house of sleep/and the natural 12th house )and the 3rd and Rahu the co-lord of the  8th house. Saturn aspects the Bharani Moon via its 3rd aspect. Venus and Mercury aspect Ketu in the 2nd house. Ketu in turn aspects the Moon in Bharani. The aspect of the 8th lord from the 8th on the Moon in Bharani and the aspects of Ketu make the native’s Moon in the 10th house of profession, occult oriented with the features of Bharani

Interpretation:

  • Connection with Spirits: Edgar Cayce, in his younger days, could see his deceased grandfather – Ketu’s aspect on Bharani. When Edgar Cayce was 10, he ‘saw’ a woman with wings who asked him what he wanted most of all
  •  Fighting for Human Rights/Social Justice: When the woman with wings asked him what he wanted, he said that he wanted to be helpful to others, especially sick children. He decided that he would be a missionary.
  • Become well known after death:  Many of Edgar Cayce’s predictions were for periods after his death, like the independence of India, discovery of the land of Atlantis (Bimini Road), which kept the legend of Cayce alive and strong much after his death
  • Path less taken: A path less taken is a theme from Bharani. Edgar Cayce’s life – as a sleeping prophet (and helping people via his dreams) was unusual and does not have any parallels.
  • Working to death: This theme of Bharani is clear in the chart of Edgar Cayce. His Moon in Bharani was in the 10th house of profession and aspected by the Saturn (the lord of work) from the 8th house of Occult. Cayce was warned via his dreams that he should not take up more than 2 readings a day. Cayce however had so many requests that he was doing 8 readings a day which made him weak and he died at the age of 67.
