Chart Analysis:

  1. Linda Goodman:

Arcturus: The star of Arcturus represents the knee. Linda Goodman had a mid-leg amputation, due to complications from diabetes, towards the end of her life

Background:

Linda Goodman had here Bhrigu Bindu in the 6th House victory. The Lord of the 6H is Sun (awakening of knowledge) which is posited in the Lagna with Venus the lord of the 3H (writing) and the 8H of occult. The Lagna lord, Jupiter is in the 10H of profession. Linda Goodman used her awakened power of astrology (her late husband Sam O. Goodman attests to her interest in astrology beginning when he brought home John Lynch’s The Coffee Table Book of Astrology in 1962. She pored over its pages while the children were at school and Sam, a disc jockey, was at work. “I think she stayed in a nightgown studying astrology 20 hours a day for a year,” he recalls) to write about occult which made her famous

Interpretation:

  • Vata element:  Linda Goodman died of diabetes which is a Vata disease (Type -1 Diabetes, Deepak Chopra).  Linda Goodman had Swati associated with 8H of death. The 8H has retrograde Saturn which is a natural malefic (karaka for prolonged) with Moon the natural karaka for sugarcane (Uttara Kalamrita) and also the ruler of the 5H area where the Pancreas and the Islets of Langerhans are located. The body part of Swati is also the intestine where, roughly, the Pancreas are located

  • Arcturus called the guardian of the Northern Heavens (role of safe keeping): Linda Goodman never revealed her year of birth. She even swore even her father to silence. It emerged posthumously that she was born in 1925. So strong is Arcturus’s role of ‘Safe Keeping’ in Linda Goodman’s chart that even with the power of Google, very little can be ferreted out about her life.!
  • Star of Bootes is the driver:  Star of Bootes called the herdsman or driver. Modern authors have recognised the symbolism of organisation: the ‘behind the scenes’ planner whose strong energies are capable of driving events forward. Some have suggested (Wikipedia) that Linda Goodman was “responsible for accelerating the growth of the New Age movement through the unprecedented success of her first astrology book Linda Goodman’s Sun Signs.” This was the first astrology book ever to earn a spot on The New York Times Best Seller list. It was followed by Linda Goodman’s Love Signs, which also made The New York Times Best Seller list and set an industry record with $2.3 million being paid for the paperback rights.
  • More concerned with what they missed that with what they have: When the New York authorities ruled that her 18-year-old daughter, Sarah Snyder, had committed suicide in 1973, Mrs. Goodman, citing her daughter’s astrological chart among other evidence, refused to believe that the body identified by her husband was Sarah’s. She later spent so much time trying to find her daughter that she was forever running out of money, at one point living for several months on the steps of St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

  1. Ludwig van Beethoven:

                                                                                     (Edging God Out)

Rahu associated with 2H: Short-tempered, absent-minded, greedy and suspicious to the point of paranoia, Beethoven feuded with his brothers, his publishers, his housekeepers, his pupils and his patrons. In one illustrative incident, Beethoven attempted to break a chair over the head of Prince Lichnowsky, one of his closest friends and most loyal patrons. Another time he stood in the doorway of Prince Lobkowitz’s palace shouting for all to hear, “Lobkowitz is a donkey!”

Background:

Success after a struggle: Beethoven’s father began teaching him music with an extraordinary rigor and brutality that affected him for the rest of his life. Neighbours provided accounts of the small boy weeping while he played the clavier, standing atop a footstool to reach the keys, his father beating him for each hesitation or mistake. Meanwhile, the musical prodigy attended a Latin grade school named Tirocinium, where a classmate said, “Not a sign was to be discovered and of that spark of genius which glowed so brilliantly in him afterwards.”

Interpretation:

  • Colour Black: Beethoven has his Swati in the Lagna. A theory of Beethoven being Black rests on the argument that Beethoven wanted to conceal his African origins. It is suggested that his father was Frederick II of Prussia and his mother one of the king’s kammermohr, African room servants. (This claim is based on an entry in the 19th-century Dictionnaire Historique des Musiciens and is part of a long-standing tradition of turning great men into princes by genetic default, thus proving the essential elevation of royal blood.
  • Nysta or perfection: Beethoven was a virtuoso pianist. The term virtuoso is used for  those who are highly skilled in their art or perfect
  • Vayu: Beethoven suffered from Tinnitus an unusual ringing of the ears which also turned him deaf. The Lord of Swati is Rahu and is posited in the 2H of ears (in some text 3H is the house for the ear). Rahu is the karaka for unusualness. Vayu is the medium which transmit sound i.e. the ringing in Beethoven’s ears
  • Flexible like the blade of grass: Bend it with Beethoven! While it is not known if Ludwig van Beethoven was flexible in his attitude and approach, what is known is that listening to Beethoven ramps up one’s yoga practice. Laura Venecia Rodriguez, a yoga teacher says in her write-up, “ever so often, I like to share recommendations for music that can energize your yoga practice.  The other day I decided to listen to a CD of classic Beethoven pieces and found myself feeling especially strong as I went through my regime!  Even non-music lovers are familiar with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Opus 67 with its timeless four-note theme that pulsates through the entire piece. I felt the power and energy of Beethoven’s music as I listened to this piece and others while doing my poses.  Although I cannot claim I was moving to the music, being enveloped in the sound of Beethoven’s work seemed to ramp up my practice. Try it yourself and see if your yoga practice becomes better with Beethoven!

  • Arrhythmic or something out of balance: Short and thick-set, broad across the shoulders, short neck, large head, round nose, dark brown complexion; always leaned forward while walking. He had a very dark and foreign complexion and there was speculation that Beethoven was black

  1. John F. Kennedy Jr.:

(Arcturus represents knee: with my tongue firmly in cheek Kennedy Jr. could often be found under the table of the President John F. Kennedy close to JFK’s knee)

Vayu Tattava: John F. Kennedy Jr. died in the crash of a small plane he was piloting, along with his wife Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, and her elder sister Lauren, on their way to a family wedding on Martha’s Vineyard.

Background:

John F. Kennedy Jr. had his Saturn, Rahu and Ketu in its Pushkara Bhaga making it particularly potent. Saturn the lord of 7 in the 5H making the spouse someone with good business sense in the field of entertainment. His wife Carolyn Jeanne Bessette was a publicist with Calvin Klein.  A strong Saturn in the 5H delays children.  Carolyn Jeanne Bessette and Kennedy Jr. had disagreement about having children. They had none. Rahu the 7L in 1H gives more than one partner. Kennedy Jr. had many.

Interpretation:

  • Blade of grass swaying in the wind: John F. Kennedy had his Mercury in Swati in the 3H. Mercury is a karaka for writing and the 3H is also the house of written communication. Retrograde Mars (the karaka for publishing) is connecting with Mercury via the 11H. Kennedy Jr. published a magazine ‘George’ with the theme of politics as a lifestyle. For a while it was the largest circulating political magazine. However, later the circulation dropped and the magazine has to be discontinued after falling readership. Spy magazine asserted that the magazine’s premise was flawed; there was no real convergence of politics and celebrity lifestyles.

(That is, according to Spy magazine ‘George’ was neither a political magazine nor a celebrity magazine – i.e. the theme of the magazine swayed in the wind and the shoot couldn’t survive)

  • Self-Centred: The young Kennedy would sometimes get into fights with reporters and photographers who followed him and his sister around. The media criticized him for being self-centred
  • Fond of pets:  Despite being hounded by the press he was always a dog lover! Some of the archival footage that aired featured young JFK Jr running around with dogs at the White House, Hyannisport and other undisclosed locations.  And photographs in tribute magazines pictured the presidential son with more dogs.  Did these faithful companions play a large role in his world of fame and media frenzy?

In a September, 1995 interview with Larry King to publicize George, King asked John about his earliest memories. “We had a dog that was named Pushinka, who was given to my father by the premier of Russia, the Soviet Union at that time. It was the daughter of the first dog in space. And we trained it to slide down this slide that we had in the back of the White House, sliding the dog down the slide is probably my first memory.”

  • Result of Shakti – Transformation: As a passionate and dedicated member of Robin Hood’s Board of Directors for eight years, John F. Kennedy Jr. was instrumental in fighting poverty in New York. John’s sister Caroline accepted a tribute in John’s honour at the 1999 Hero Awards. Thousands of lives were saved and transformed as a result of John’s leadership and compassion. Robin Hood will continue to be inspired by John’s example, and will honour his memory by furthering his work on behalf of the impoverished in New York City.
